Recommended by Ciência Viva, EPSM was invited to participate in the international workshop "EU4OCEAN SPOW - Plastic pollution and working with ocean technologies", organized by SCIENTIX and the European Network of Blue Schools.

EPSM was invited to share with schools around the world the development process of the EPSWater project, a project that has been developed by students on the Electronics, Automation and Control course, as an example of good practices and innovation within the scope of promoting ocean sustainability among school audiences.

It should be remembered that the prototype being developed by EPSM students has already been awarded twice in the Atlântico Júnior Prize, a competition launched by FLAD - Fundação Luso-Americana para o Desenvolvimento e pela Ciência Viva. In 2022, this project won first place and, in 2023, with version 2.0, it remained on the podium with 2nd place.

This project, which has been improved, consists of the construction of an autonomous sustainable surface vehicle, which will monitor water quality. The biggest advantage of this vehicle is its mobility, and can be used on the banks of Portuguese rivers. This vehicle can also be used to raise awareness, using photographic systems to record the fauna and flora of the coastal area, with the possibility of being camouflaged, allowing the natural habitat of native species to be preserved.
