Certified Modular Courses

WHAT ARE THE SHORT-TERM TRAINING UNITS (UFCD)?

The UFCD are short-term training courses that allow for the updating or improvement of the theoretical and practical knowledge of the Portuguese adult population, as well as raising their educational and professional qualification levels.

 

WHO ARE THEY AIMED AT?

They are aimed at active employed / active adults with a minimum qualification at the 9th grade level, with a special focus on employed people at risk of job loss and unemployed active people.

 

WHAT ARE THE PURPOSES OF THIS TRAINING OFFER?

The UFCD trainign courses contribute to enhancing the employability of the working population, namely the unemployed, employed and employed at risk of unemployment, by increasing their adaptability through the development of skills required by the labor market:

a) The UFCD courses for employed adults aim to respond to the qualification needs of workers, in the context of organizational change and restructuring processes, with a view to increasing the productivity and competitiveness of companies, as well as the skills and qualification levels of the employed adults, contributing to the maintenance of employment;

b) The UFCD courses for the unemployed adults aim to strengthen the professional qualification of unemployed workers, promoting a more sustained return to the labor market, through participation in UFCD courses adjusted to their profile of needs.

 

HOW ARE THEY ORGANIZED?

The curricular organization of modular training is carried out, for each training unit, in accordance with the respective training references contained in the National Qualifications Catalog (CNQ), which may correspond to units of the basic training component, of the technological training component or both.

Modular training can be used to obtain one or more qualifications listed in the CNQ and allow the creation of flexible pathways of varying duration, characterized by adaptation to different training modalities, target audiences, methodologies, training contexts and forms of validation.

 

WHAT CERTIFICATION DO THE UFCD COURSES CONVEY?

Whenever an adult successfully completes a modular training course, he / she is issued a certificate of qualifications that lists all the competence or short-term training units successfully completed. If the trainee completes a complete CNQ course, he will obtain the respective certification.
