The Jovem Talento da Gastronomia (JTG) roadshow passed through the Escola Profissional de Salvaterra de Magos (EPSM) yesterday, in a session specially aimed at students of the 10th and 11th year Cooking/Pastry and Restaurant/Bar courses.
The meeting was attended by Matilde Machado and Joana Candeias, former winners of the competition, who spoke about their experience and encouraged everyone to participate. Both highlighted the importance that this Competition had in their professional lives, allowing the development of new skills and the creation of contact networks with chefs, companies and institutions of reference in the gastronomy and hospitality sector
Over the years, EPSM has been a constant presence in this prestigious national competition, with several students distinguishing themselves in different categories. The 2024 edition was no exception: five students from the school were among the 36 national finalists — Leonor Almeida (Recheio Kitchen), Luna Bien (Derovo Pastry), Mauro Santos Júnior and Sofia Barros (Tradition with Rice), and João Vilão (Table Arts). Mauro Júnior and João Vilão stood out by winning places on the podium in their categories.
Jovem Talento da Gastronomia is currently the main national competition aimed at young restaurant and hotel students. Participation in this competition represents a unique opportunity for young people to demonstrate their potential in a real and competitive context, gain visibility among brands, professionals and important entities in the sector and, for many, take the first steps towards a successful career.
