An Electronics and Automation Technician is a qualified professional capable of installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical/electronic, electromechanical, and automation and control equipment, ensuring its optimal operation while respecting safety standards for people and equipment.
WHAT IT DOES?
- To prepare and organize the work in order to carry out the installation, maintenance and/or repair of electronic equipment and systems, automation and control systems, and telecommunications installations in buildings;
- To install electronic equipment and systems, as well as automation and control systems, using appropriate technologies, techniques, and instruments, in order to ensure their correct operation, respecting safety standards for people and equipment;
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on electronic, automation, and control equipment and systems, using appropriate technologies, techniques, and instruments, in order to optimize their operation, ensuring the quality of the service provided, and respecting safety standards for people and equipment;
- To install telecommunications equipment and systems in buildings, using appropriate technologies, techniques and instruments, in accordance with technical instructions, specific regulations and manufacturer manuals, respecting safety standards for people and equipment;
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on telecommunications equipment and systems in buildings, using appropriate technologies, techniques, and instruments, in order to ensure their proper functioning, respecting safety standards for people and equipment;
- Provide technical assistance to clients, clarifying any doubts about the operation of the systems and electronic equipment being serviced;
- Prepare reports and complete technical documentation related to the activity performed.
Young people who have completed the 9th grade and are no older than 25 years of age (at the start of the school year).
In terms of professional certification, the school awards a Level 4 Professional Qualification Diploma. The course confers a Secondary Education Diploma (12th grade) and allows normal access to Higher Education.
Bruno Ribeiro, graduate of a professional course in Electronics, Automation and Command Technician at the Professional School of Salvaterra de Magos (EPSM) is today one of the 16 ambassadors of professional education, an initiative carried out by the Ministry of Education, via ANQEP.
Bruno Ribeiro is an entrepreneur and administrator of the company Link-e, which operates in the area of providing specialized services in the field of renewable energy. The former EPSM student praises the school highly. He says that this course was “a good choice” and “a door that opened to the job market” in an innovative area with great growth potential, in particular with the emergence of drones.
